Trustees
Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade (CALL) Trustees are volunteers who use their experience and develop their skills and knowledge to help guide and govern CALL. They work with the Chief Officer and other staff to shape strategy and give direction.
We asked our Trustees; Why did you become a Volunteer Trustee with Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade?
Lynn
I really enjoy being a trustee with our local Citizens Advice; being involved in the local community, working with a fantastic team, constantly learning something new and helping to develop such a worthwhile service.

I wanted to join CALL as a Trustee because it’s a local charity supporting local people and I felt that I had skills and experience that would enable me to make a contribution to the running the organisation.

Whilst on maternity leave I decided I wanted to start giving back to my local community and broaden my experience beyond my day job. I was able to use the transferable skills from my career and get a lot back too: Citizens Advice plays such an important role in society and I’m constantly learning new things. I love working with a great team of like-minded people and there are so many opportunities to get involved.

I moved to Leighton Buzzard in 2020, and was keen to get closer to the local community. I wanted to really feel part of and contribute to the town I lived in. I work full time, but spotted the flexible opportunity to be a trustee for Citizens Advice, and knew it was the perfect role for me. I love being part of the lovely team that really do make a difference to our town.

After being made redundant I found my new portfolio career was missing something. Volunteering as a trustee for CALL fulfilled that gap. I am proud to have been able to share my experience as part of a fabulous committed trustee team to lead CALL to deliver a great service that supports our community.

I moved to the area a few years ago and wanted to get involved in local charity work. By volunteering as a trustee with CALL, I am able to give back to the community by sharing my experience and knowledge on the board and whilst also growing my own skills.

Upon retirement, I decided to spend my free time on Voluntary & Charity work to help those in need, and thereby give back to our local community of which I’ve been a part for over 30 years.
Citizens Advice fitted the bill perfectly and, as a CALL Trustee, I’m able to bring to bear some of my career skills. The added bonus is that I’m still learning and am part of a great team in a friendly atmosphere where everyone is dedicated to a common purpose – ‘helping others’.

Having moved to the area in 2021, I was keen to get to know the community better. Skills-based volunteering can be so impactful and contributing to the leadership of CALL is so rewarding!

I have always admired the role that Citizens Advice plays within the Leighton/Linslade community, so was delighted to be given the opportunity to join as a Volunteer Trustee, to provide some assistance to a support network that is of increasing importance.
