CALL for Bags of Help at Tesco
Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade is again being supported by shoppers at one of the town’s supermarkets. From 1st September until 21st October, shoppers at Tesco branches in and around Leighton Buzzard will be able to vote for Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade as their charity of choice as part of Tesco’s bags of help scheme.
The Tesco branches involved are Leighton Buzzard Vimy Road and Appenine Way, Linslade Grasmere Road, Dunstable Langdale Express, and Dunstable High Street.
Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of up to £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores – being awarded to local community projects.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK receive a share of revenue generated from carrier bag sales in Tesco store. The public will now vote in store during September and October on who should receive the awards. See www.tesco.com/bagsofhelp
Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade is a local charity that provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to over 3,500 individuals a year.
Although we are mainly staffed by volunteers we still need money to run the local service. We receive no money from central government but do receive grants from local government.
However, this does not cover our total outgoings and we need to raise additional funds to maintain the service. Our Support Us page explains how you can help.
